AFL Now: All the updates, injury lists and team news on Wednesday ahead of round 4

While the Magpies will turn to Billy Frampton to fill the key defensive void left by Reef McInnes’ season-ending injury.

McKay was a late out of the round 2 game against Hawthorn and then missed in round 3 against the Western Bulldogs.

He did not train on Wednesday with the main group and ultimately was not recalled for the Thursday night game against the Blues’ arch rivals.

Coach Michael Voss refused to answer questions on McKay’s selection status on Wednesday, saying “I won’t get into a weekly conversation about it.”

“When we get to the point where he’s named, you’ll just know he’s ready to go,” he said.

Ashton Moir and Cooper Lord have both been recalled for the senior side, while Will White will make his debut for the club after signing with the Blues in the pre-season.

Matt Cottrell will miss through injury, while Jordan Boyd and Francis Evans were omitted.

Zac Williams has been named to play despite an early exit from last week’s match with achilles soreness.

The club cleared him of any significant damaged and trained strongly enough this week for selection.

Meanwhile the Magpies have lost Reef McInnes for the remainder of the season a after tearing his ACL in the round 2 win over the Western Bulldogs.

Collingwood had McInnes reinvent himself as a key defender after an inconsistent start to his career as a forward, and showed promise in his new role throughout the pre-season and the opening games of the season.

AFL: Michael Voss joined AFL 360 and was questioned on Harry McKay's chances of returning to Carlton this Thursday night.

The Magpies will turn to Frampton, who played 17 games in 2024 as a key defender, to replace McInnes.

Brody Mihocek also returns from general soreness, replacing Mason Cox, who was omitted.

Over in Moorabbin, St Kilda is hopeful skipper Jack Steele will be fit to take on Port Adelaide this week.

He was restricted to running laps at Moorabbin on Wednesday after he suffered a knee injury in the lead-up to the team’s win over Richmond last weekend.

He is being given every chance to play on Sunday and is eyeing the team’s main training session on Friday.

Spearhead Max King – who remains yet to play this season amid ongoing knee trouble – trained with teammates as the club remains hopeful of a potential Gather Round return next week.
