AFL round 5 North Melbourne v Gold Coast, Carlton v West Coast: Live updates, news, SuperCoach scores
Eric Hipwood had one touch in the first half, but come full time he had five goals to his name as the Lions managed a 10-goal turnaround in the second half.
There’s another huge Saturday of football ahead of us!
The pressure is back on North Melbourne after their horror performance against Sydney last week, with the Suns proving too strong.
Speaking of pressure, the 0-4 Blues are swimming in it but have given themselves breathing room after a performance against West Coast.
Then the match of the day sees the Western Bulldogs take on reigning premier Brisbane before the Dees and Bombers clash tonight.
Follow all the action below.
The Brisbane Lions are still unbeaten.
A late junk-time goal to Lachie McNeil cut the margin back to 21, but the Dogs will be kicking themselves after letting that one slip after being 33 points up at half time, and down by 39 points midway through the second.
The Lions had 14 goals to five in the second half. Goodness me.
For SuperCoaches, Lachie Neale bounced back to finish on 91 after a quiet start, with Levi Ashcroft finishing on the same score. Will Ashcroft scored 116, but Dayne Zorko and Josh Dunkley would have disappointed owners with 83 and 89.
Eric Hipwood has his fifth goal in the second half and the Brisbane Lions have sealed the deal at Norwood.
Hipwood was given a push in the back and slotted the free kick from the top of the square, which was a goal for Jack Payne who started it all with a monster pack mark in the middle of the ground.
Then he kicks another one a moment later running into the goals.
The Lions are 27 points up, a 60-point turnaround from half time. They’ve kicked 12 of the last 14 goals.
Lachie Bramble has had a moment he’d like to forget after missing the target from a kick-in. Zac Bailey pounced, flicked a bullet to Callum Ah Chee to the top of the square, and he’s then found Cam Rayney and there’s an eight point gap with five minutes to go.
And then Cal Ah Chee has nailed a set shot from right up on the boundary line, threading the eye of a needle. Goodness gracious me. Is this game of the year? It’s up there.
Hugh McCluggage kicks a point to break a few minute stretch without a goal.
The intensity of this game has gone up a notch, hooly dooly. We’ve had a bone-jarring tackle from Aaron Naughton in the square, Sam Darcy is stuck on the pine, the crowd is rowdy and getting involved.
The Western Bulldogs have broken a run of nine straight Lions goals to bring the game back to a single point margin.
Matt Kennedy sinks one from 50 after being fed by a Sam Davidson handball to give the Dogs some breathing room.
It came after Zac Bailey drew a professional high free kick off Sam Davidson and converted the resulting set shot in the twilight at Norwood.
The Lions were up by 14 points, a 47-point turnaround from half time, but Kennedy goaled a few minutes later.
Cal Ah Chee has taken a stellar mark running back with the flight on the goal line after Hugh McCluggage sent the ball in and Brisbane have eight in a row and are seven points up.
“They are a Juggernaut, aren’t they?” asks Jason Dunstall. They are indeed, Chief. Hooly dooly.
Dunstall then sticks the boot into the Dogs, too, after Luke Beveridge held them back at the huddle at the final change.
“Their body language looks awful, they’re not interested at all.”
