Cats v Tigers preview
Match-ups don’t get any bigger than Dustin Martin and Patrick Dangerfield. But it won’t be on Saturday, with Dangerfield’s surprise withdrawal.
Richmond’s three-time Norm Smith Medallist will be a certain starter and Patrick Dangerfield was likely to return at AFL’s holy grail, as first reported on Monday. Three huge outs though for Richmond with Trent Cotchin (clavicle), Noah Balta (hamstring) and Kane Lambert (hip) all missing.
The Cats have added Gary Rohan, Jack Henry and Max Holme. Luke Dalhaus and Cooper Stephens were dropped and Zac Guthrie is being managed.
The Tigers entered the eight last Thursday when they overcame arch rivals Carlton by 15 points at the MCG and ended the round in sixth. Two places above them on the AFL ladder is Geelong. This is the Cats’ second home game at the MCG this season following the 66-point thrashing they handed out to Essendon in round one.
Tom Hawkins, who kicked four goals that day, enters Saturday having reached 700 career goals in Perth, against West Coast last weekend.
