The GWS Giants are 13th on the ladder, and finals are a distant possibility, but to remain a chance they will need to beat the Western Bulldogs on Saturday 18 June. Here’s how to watch the match on Kayo and catch up on all the news in the lead-up.

Giants v Bulldogs preview

It was a Saturday night at GIANTS stadium, nearly six years ago, that Giants’ hearts were broken by the Western Bulldogs in a preliminary final for the ages that was ultimately the second last step to breaking a 62-year premiership drought.

And so round 14 sets up another Saturday night clash between these two modern day foes, this time in the midst of winter, and the stakes not so high. But still plenty at play.

So many question marks circle Western Bulldogs’ selection and their season as a whole for that matter.

Last year’s grand finalists were highly tipped to be up the pointy end of the ladder again, yet that hasn’t transpired sitting 10th on the AFL ladder with six wins and as many losses. The Bulldogs have recalled Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Josh Schache and 2016 Norm Smith medallist Jason Johannisen for the clash.

The Giants are a further two wins back in 13th, but have won two of their first three matches under interim coach and former Essendon player Mark McVeigh, admittedly against cellar dwellers North Melbourne and West Coast.

Although in between they took it up to the Brisbane Lions leading by 30 points at one stage. This Saturday, big man Braydon Preuss is a key inclusion for GWS named alongside Matthew Flynn.
