Swans v Saints preview
Both teams find themselves just inside the eight, on percentage, and are each coming off surprise losses to less fancied rivals last weekend.
The Saints went down to Essendon by 35 at Marvel Stadium, but will be rejoined by returning star Jack Steele for the trip to Sydney, with coach Brett Ratten confirming his availability early in the week. But Brad Hill won’t play due to personal reasons, Paddy Ryder has been managed and Jack Higgins was dropped.
Sydney will be missing ruckman Peter Ladhams to suspension after his gut punch to Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines in last Saturday’s 82-59 loss, cost him a week. The high emotion of facing his former club getting the better of the big man.
Tom Hickey is expected to come into the side for the Swans’ SCG return. Buddy Franklin returned from suspension against Port Adelaide but returned just the one goal.

History between Swans and Saints
Recent history indicates home ground advantage is significant in Swans-St Kilda matches with five of the past six matches favouring the hosts. The one exception came four years ago at Marvel Stadium when Sydney smashed the Saints by 71.
As a bit of trivia, the biggest match these two clubs have played this century came at the MCG in 2005 when the Swans won their way through to that drought-breaking Grand Final. They would famously and nervously wait on the outcome of another gut punch, this time by Barry Hall to Matthew Macguire.
