World Cup winning Australian spinner Adam Zampa has flown home from the IPL and will miss the rest of the tournament due to a flare up of a previous shoulder injury.
Zampa played for Pat Cummins in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opening two games, as the impact sub, taking a single wicket in each match.
But he subsequently reported some shoulder soreness in his bowling arm and missed the next four matches.
After being assessed he flew home to Australia for further medical consultation and was ruled out of the tournament.

It is understood the issue is a recurrence of an injury he had battled in the lead-up to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Zampa is now unlikely to play again until Australia’s next T20I series against West Indies in the Caribbean starting in late July.
His exit came as the Ricky Ponting coached Punjab Kings successfully defended the lowest total in IPL history by bowling out defending champions Kolkata for 95
Ponting hailed it “just about the best win I’ve ever had” in the IPL after his team bowled out the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders for 95, 16 runs short of the low target of 111.
In his 11th year as a coach in the IPL, and his first in charge of the Kings, Ponting was stunned after the victory.
“The heart rate still up a bit for me. It’s probably up over 200. I don’t need many of those games like that and my age of over 50 now,” he said.

“I thought this was a season defining moment. I reckon at the half way mark there weren’t too many people around the world who would have defended that ... That might just be about the best win I’ve ever had as coach.“
The win came despite another failure with the bat by Kings Australian star Glenn Maxwell, who made just seven.
Maxwell has posted four single figure scores in five innings this season in an underwhelming effort.
