Huge Brisbane deluge sees Saturday’s Doomben meeting moved to Wednesday
Rain which has consistently battered southeast Queensland throughout the week has forced stewards to switch Saturday’s Doomben meeting.
A week-long deluge of rain has seen Saturday’s Doomben meeting moved to Wednesday, with officials ruling out the possibility of racing on the rain-soaked track.
Doomben has copped 133mm of rain throughout the week, with consistent drizzle giving the surface no time to dry out in time for Saturday.
With little to no rain forecast in Brisbane on Saturday or Sunday, the decision was made to race on Wednesday, with the scheduled Ipswich meeting moved to Thursday.
Racing on Monday was considered by Racing Queensland, however wagering turnover is expected to be significantly more on Wednesday.

Saturday’s Tattersall’s meeting was the kick off of the summer carnival in Brisbane, with both the Listed Recognition Stakes and Tattersall’s Classic scheduled to be run.
The Tattersall’s Racing Club will still host a phantom meeting at Doomben on Saturday, with a number of functions already pre booked.
It comes on the back of Racing Queensland’s decision to move Friday night’s Sunshine Coast meeting onto the poly track along with their Sunday one.
Monday’s Kilcoy meeting has also been abandoned due to the rain.
