Exciting filly Scenic Point justified her short quote with a dominant Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1100m) victory at Caulfield.
The raw two-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon settled last but quickly put a margin on the small field once given her head in the straight.

Lindsay Park-trained Scenic Point, who bolted in on debut the start prior, defeated Aleppo Pine and Mednyi by a length on Saturday.
Mednyi, second past the past, was relegated to third after a protest for interference in the straight.
Lindsay Park also won the Redoute’s Choice last year with Bold Bastille.
Co-trainer Will Hayes was thrilled with Scenic Point.
“I felt like what she did today was on raw ability and there’s plenty of upside,” Hayes said.
“Stacky (Daniel Stackhouse) summed up the race very well to ride her patiently. He produced her on the bend and she really ran to the line, was quite green the last 50m.
“The sky is the limit with her, spring ambitions there, definitely a fun way to plan on Monday.”

Favourite Scenic Point returned $1.40.
The $450,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale graduate could be aimed at something in Sydney but Hayes erred towards a break and spring ambitions.
“We’ll be guided by how she pulls up but the way she won today you wouldn’t hesitate to go to Sydney,” Hayes said.
“But you also wouldn’t hesitate to put her in the paddock and protect her for the spring.
“She wasn’t ready early. Big framed, a beautiful physical, she screams three-year-old type and I think what she’s done now is a bonus, which is quite exciting to think.
“She wasn’t ready for the Diamonds and the Slippers, she told us when she was ready and kicked off when we had to and produced her in a nice stakes race this time of year.
“We didn’t produce her early for the two-year-old races on purpose, so it might be the best thing for her to put her in the paddock.”
Hayes said Scenic Point has the scope and attributes to develop into a Thousand Guineas-type spring filly.
“It’s all upside and based on potential but what we’re dealing with is a very talented galloper,” Hayes said.

DERBY DECISION PENDING
Statuario has stamped derby claims but trainers Emma-Lee and David Browne must now decide between the South Australian or Queensland classics.
Statuario appreciated fast ground on Saturday at Caulfield to run out a comprehensive winner in the Listed Elvis Thurgood Galilee Series Final (2400m) under jockey John Allen.
“We got to weigh up whether we freshen now and go to Queensland or four weeks’ out and go to the derby in South Australia,” David Browne said.
“It looks a nice race for him (SA)… he’s starting to furnish now.”

The likelihood of drier ground in Adelaide is a consideration with Statuario potentially vulnerable on genuine rain-affected tracks.
Statuario was in complete control on Saturday, stalking a moderate early speed and surged late.
“He ended up in the right spot, a great ride by Johnny,” Browne said.
“Went to sleep and finished off well. Probably hit the front a little early and started floating around.
“Possible (SA) derby, it’s possibly not a bad option to go to, four weeks’ out.”
LOVE BLOSSOMS
Soft Love built on her perfect record with big finish to win the 1200m 3YO Handicap.
Soft Love, trained by Matt Laurie, followed runner-up Thames into the straight and swept past the favourite in a bound to seal a Caulfield double for jockey Harry Coffey.
“She’s quite exciting to ride because you’re able to ride her in a manner that’s pretty quiet and relaxed and back in her turn of foot to get you out of trouble,” Coffey said.
“I must admit probably at the 600m I thought this could be tricky also mathematically hard, but she proved me wrong and let rip and won soft. Very exciting.”
Coffey said Soft Love could stretch out a bit further but remained mindful of her dynamic finish.
The impressive win also gave Laurie a twin-state metro double after Vinrock won the Group 1 Sires’ Produce in Sydney.
