Vixens v Giants preview

The minor premier Vixens and Giants will compete for the remaining spot in the Super Netball Grand Final on Saturday night after contrasting semi-final results last weekend.

On their home court – as they will be this Saturday – Melbourne were down by as much as 20 points against the second-placed West Coast Fever, before a final quarter fightback made the score respectable at 71-62.

Like she has been all season, Jhaniele Fowler was hard to contain missing just two of her 69 shots on goal in Fever’s win to go straight through to a home grand final already booked for Perth.

Melbourne play a Giants’ team who defeated Collingwood on Sunday to progress. Giants’ captain Jo Harten shot at 94 per cent in the 55-48 win, and with ball magnet Maddie Hay, was pivotal to victory at Ken Rosewall Arena.

Kiera Austin has been ruled out with Covid for the Melbourne Vixens, but she is the only change for either team from last weekend, replaced by Ruby Barkmeyer.
